Active Alex Rig

This is a project I have been working on since October 2020 with a group of women from Women in Animation. I was tasked with building the rig and I have faced the challenge of handling a cartoon character's flexibility by building each limb as a ribbon rig, to allow for the proper amount of stretch and flexibility, without losing the character's shape and feel. His eyes are ovals instead of spheres, which also presented an interesting challenge. To resolve this, I created an invisible NURBS circle underneath his eye geometry, and his pupils attach to that to allow for them to move independently of the eye. Active Alex is still a work in progress, so please check back if you're interested to see how the character evolves!
